Wellco Combat and Jungle Boots

With 26 bones, 33 joints, 107 ligaments and 19 muscles and tendons the foot is a complex mass of materials that are so often overlooked when it comes to taking care of ourselves. We take them for granted – until, that is, the day they simply hurt too much – the day when every step leaves you wincing in pain!

Supporting our entire body weight for the largest portion of the day, the feet have a mighty job to do and we need to look after them for them to be able to continue this role. My brother is in the military and here they take the care of their feet very seriously. They have found to their detriment that ill-fitting or non-protective footwear impacts on the safety of soldiers at home and abroad.

With this in mind, the military have been getting their soldiers footwear from Wellco since 1965 and that is testament to the comfort, support and protection that is the result of years of research from such a well established company. My brother swears their combat boots are the most comfortable he has ever used and refused to go into any combat without them.

My father was exactly the same. Having spent a fair amount of his service in places like Vietnam he was even known to sleep in his jungle boots. Wellco boots are ideal for difficult conditions such as the wet and tough terrain of a jungle or the heat and dryness of desert plains. This is because the research that has gone into them gives them the ability to keep in heat when needed, keep cool when needed as well as offer flame resistance, waterproofing and safety toes.

So, the next time you think you can overlook the footwear and just chuck on any old boots, think about all those bones, ligaments and muscles and give them a little TLC for long-term benefits.
