Construction Equipment, Diggers and Excavators Galore!
My husband and I have taken the first steps towards our joint dream of building our own house. As we speak we are surrounded by construction equipment, diggers and excavators and it truly is a mans world!
Long before I met him, my husband had the foresight to purchase an acre of land. This land has lain fallow for twenty years now and has, to our great delight, recently been granted planning permission to develop on. For some time, we have both been having our own secret thoughts about what we would like from a home that we designed ourselves. We put our heads together to thrash out the details and then took all our plans to an architect who was able to put them into workable drawings.
This stage took longer than we expected and we were soon met with the chill winds of winter thrashing around us as we were about to begin the grafting part of the build. We are fortunate enough to be able to pay contractors to do the dirty stuff but overseeing the project has been at times tough, at other times great fun. There’s nothing quite like seeing the construction equipment coming on-site and cutting swathes through the land knowing that they are setting about making your dreams come true.
